Running

In Primary School I signed up for the Cross Country team... I went to two training sessions and then quit.

In High School I did everything I could to avoid any form of running; Physical education classes, athletics carnivals and cross country days made me break into a cold sweat.

As a 22 year old I gave it another crack. I was obese and over-eager. After a few months and a couple of agonising 'fun' runs (can anyone say shin splints!?), I retired from my stellar running career and vowed to never think of anything more than a fast paced walk ever again.

But the Running Gods had other ideas...

Four years after hanging up my sneakers I had lost some weight and had spent a year walking for fitness when the urge to try running again became too strong to ignore. With all of my past failures in the back of my mind I decided to get educated this time and found to Couch to 5K program.

'And She Ran' was born from my desire to have some accountability during C25K. I figured if I had to write honestly about how I was going with it all I was more likely to keep it up!

And it worked!

You can read all of my C25K posts here.

When it was done I was officially 'hooked' so I kept running and kept blogging!!

Since then I have completed the Bridge to 10K Program, run in fun runs, completed a half marathon, lost toe nails, been chased by dogs, dealt with injuries and even signed up for a full marathon! Every day that I run I fall in love with it a little more and best of all? After all the failed attempts in the past...

... I can finally call myself a runner!
