I am a strong believer in 'signs'... Those subtle little cues that something is either going right or going very, very wrong...
Today has been full of these little signs.
My knee/lower hamstring, which had been feeling oddly tight for the last few days, is feeling 99% better.
There was a package on my desk when I got to work this morning - My replacement Yurbuds!
** I need to make a point that I am so super impressed with the after-sales service that Yurbuds supplied! I wrote to them on Thursday last week about my problem and the were super helpful, replaced my headphones and got them to me before M-Day!**
And look what I found in my race pack that I picked up at lunchtime...
Chocolate Outrage GU! By far my favourite GU flavour, the one I have been training with and the one I will be using on race day!
All signs point to awesome!
The closer that M-Day gets and the more taper-induced self doubt that I experience, the more I find myself leaning on the thoughts of my post-race rewards to get me through. I knew when I was making the list that not all of my demands would be met but a girl can live in hope, right? However, through good luck and some saving I will be able to tick off six of the eight things I hoped for!
Danny has promised to meet me at the finish line with the giant cup of coffee I requested, along with the cinnamon bun I have been longing for! I decided, for the good of my waistline mostly, that I would forego this cinnamon bun recipe (4 cups of sugar, 4 cups of vegan butter and 7 cups white flour!) in favour of this one (much, much less sugar, fat-free and whole wheat flour)
Lunch or dinner (or both!) will be the much anticipated lasagne from Like A Vegan - It might be vegan and full of vegetable but it is far from healthy! I think I will be making up for three months of eating minimal processed foods in one go by eating this lasagne!!
On Monday I will head to the spa for 2 1/2 blissful hours - A footbath, a body scrub a clay wrap, a massage and a facial... Oh my word! I haven't been to the spa since my Hen's Night... Seven years is a long time between visits! Then after that, to save me from slaving away all of my spa-day calm in the kitchen, Danny has booked us in for dinner at my favourite Mexican restaurant where I guess I will continue to undo all of the clean eating I've done over the last 3 months.
I've even been lucky enough to get my weekend away. I had added it to the list in a fit of wishful thinking but then Danny's boss offered him a nights accommodation at a fancy-schmancy hotel as a reward for his hard work. Danny was sweet enough to offer it up as my 'weekend away'. It's in a beautiful location, with a spa in the room and a restaurant that has rave reviews... I'm a very spoilt lady indeed!

Where we will be staying
This post is my Week 1, Day 10 post for 'Start Clean 2013' via Healthy Heddleston.

Today's #StartClean2013 Challenge was to try a new workout that I've been afraid to try. I've had to put it on hold until after the marathon... Taper week and new workouts don't mesh too well! I am thinking about what I could do to fulfill this challenge, what activites I've been meaning to try out but not gotten around to. I've always wanted to give Roller Derby a try but I thinking I'm too much of a chickety-chicken!
I'd Like To Know...
What's a new workout or activity that you can suggest or that you've been meaning to try out?
What thoughts get you through long, tough runs? Are you motivated by food as much as I am?

All the best for your race! Hope fully one day I can run a marathon too!
ReplyDeleteYay! So close! I hope you enjoy the coffee and cinnamon bun at the end because you will have earned it!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried turbo kick? I tried it once and it was hard, but fun!
I had all that self-doubt too. But the things you hold onto are that you know you've done the training, you know you've got the nutrition right and you know that you can walk the distance if worst comes to worst. But that's not going to happen because you've got this!
