Today is my sister's birthday!
Growing up my sister and I played our parts well; her being the sensible, older sister and me, the annoying younger sister. We fought... A lot! It must have driven my Dad crazy.
If you would have told me back then that we would grow up and my sister would become one of my closest friends, the person who knows me better than anyone else and the one who I would go to with my problems you would have been met with a very dramatic 'PFFFFFFTTTT! Whatever!'
But yet, here we are.
Where I am a drama queen, she is sensible. Where I am loud-mouthed, she considers the words that come out of her mouth. Where I am high-strung, she is relaxed. Where I am quick tempered, she is level headed.
She also doesn't like having photos taken. So here is one I have recycled from the triathlon earlier this year. It's red faced and sweaty and she will hate it... Serves you right, sister of mine, you should be open to having more photos taken!
So HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister... I can't tell you how much I admire all that you are and how much you inspire me. You are beautiful, smart and an awesome Mummy to two of my favourite little people in the world.
xoxo
There was a lot riding on this weeks weigh-in. It had been the first full week eating to my whizz-bang split meal plan. I was sceptical that I could lose weight in a week when I felt like I was eating more. In reality, I knew that I wasn't actually eating more because the evening binges and 2pm sugary/fatty/salty snack attacks were gone but the absence of the ravenous hunger I used to get was playing tricks on my mind.
I had also ramped up the strength training this week, going from one session a week to four this week. I swear I can feel the water being retained in my poor, aching muscles!
Despite all that, I felt lighter. My clothes were fitting a little looser. Deep down I knew the scales had moved in the right direction... All the way to 88kg (194lbs) in fact! Last weeks gain, along with another 700g were gone!! Cue the Happy Dance!
I also took some measurements and some photos this morning because I have been designing a 6-week plan, based on the things I have learnt in Nancy Clark's book, and it officially starts today! There is a post coming that is all about it but here's a little sneak peek at one of the pictures I had Danny take...
Who's a pretty girl then?
Your Turn:
Do you have any siblings? Did you get along as kids? What about now?

Happy Birthday to your sister!
ReplyDeleteMy brothers and I actually got along when we were younger, but it's much more distant now as adults, sadly. They're business owners and never have time for family things. BUT! They're good boys & I love them like crazy!
Sarah
As long as the love is there Sarah, that's all that is imporant :)
DeleteAw, what a sweet birthday tribute to your sister! I was also the annoying baby sister, but now my sister is the one person who understands me in a way that is different from anyone else :) Congrats on the weight loss this week!
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Annoying younger sisters UNITE! We could take over the world ;)
DeleteI have three older sisters. My parents had four girls in five years and we all fought growing up. Now that we are older, I am closest to the sister closest in age and get along well with my second oldest sister but not at all with the oldest. I guess family dynamics can be interesting that way.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on your weigh in and happy birthday to your sister!
Wow, four girls in five years! That must have been crazy!! I can imagine the teenage years would have been 'entertaining'
DeleteI've always wondered what they family dynamics would be if my parents would have had more children. Danny comes from a family of four children and he also gets along best with the sibling closest in age to him.
Happy birthday to your sister!! And congratulations on your weight loss!!
ReplyDeleteI have a younger brother, we're 15 months apart. We weren't very close growing up and we aren't very close now but I know that if I needed him he would be there for me and vice versa.
Thanks Jamie :)
DeleteI think knowing that the 'sibling support' and love is there is the most important thing, regardless of whether you are close or not :)
Happy Birthday to your sister!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weigh-in!
